Our Buzz Makers Vol 4: @theecobabe

To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Earth Month this month, we're partnering with Earth Day Network to support their Protect Our Species campaign, created to protect endangered bees. We formed a hive of do-gooders who care about the bees and the earth as much as we do. Discover why and how they’re helping the bees—we hope you’ll get inspired to take action, too.

Vol 4: Monica Richards

Home Base: Los Angeles, California

Mission: Help others create a zero-waste home and a modern green lifestyle that breaks wasteful habits and benefits Mother Earth.

Why bees?:  “To mass-produce food, our commercial farming practices rely heavily on bees for their pollination. As the human population increases and the pressure on bees mounts (both physically and via pesticide exposure), millions of bees have been left dead.”

Her tips to help protect the bees:

Monica offers easy ways to help.

  1. Plant lavender, flowering cacti, sunflowers and other bee-friendly plants or flowers.
  2. Switch from almond milk to oat milk to help relieve pressure on bees.
  3. Support bee conservation by adopting a hive.
  4. Prove the power of your voice by swearing off pesticides: eat organic foods and sign Earth Day Network’s pesticide pledge here.
